I am a current college student, and this page is part of a final project for a class dealing with cultural issues.
The assignment was to create a cultural artifact. For inspiration, I turned the the cultural artifacts of the 60's - war protest fliers, advertisements for civil rights marches, and all sorts of political statements. I was so struck by the applicability of some of those artifacts to today's political climate that I decided to create something using the technology of today while resurrecting the messages of the 60's.
To the best of my knowledge, these fliers were actually created and posted in the 60's and early 70's. I scoured the internet to find them, printed them out, photocopied them, and displayed them at various locations throughout the Portland metro area.
I then created this page, with digital images of all of the fliers and links to where I found them. I've also gathered a selection of links (below) to help you find more information.
If you saw one of these fliers posted, please leave a comment letting me know where you saw it! If you are inspired enough to print one of these fliers out and post it somewhere (legally, please), email me a photo and tell me where you hung it and I will post it on this site.
